🤠 I Accidentally Started A Feud With The Hottest Cowboy In Wyoming

I came to Whiskey Ridge to escape my pre-midlife crisis and cheating ex.

Instead, I got chased by a runaway goose.

Publicly humiliated at the town rodeo.

And hired by a millionaire cowboy who looks like every bad decision I’ve ever made wrapped in denim.

Rhett Walker is six-foot-three of pure irritation. He hates my city-girl ideas. I hate his bossy attitude. And somehow we’re now working together twelve hours a day.

Which would be manageable if he weren’t constantly staring at me like he’s deciding whether to kiss me or throw me off his ranch. And if I weren’t hiding a secret that would make him hate me forever.

Turns out surviving a cheating ex, a runaway goose, and the town rodeo was the easy part. Surviving my gorgeous cowboy boss? That’s where things get complicated.

Why I’m asking readers to help fund this book

I’m a full-time writer. That means writing is my job, my joy, and — full transparency — my income. Most people who meet me don’t realize that a significant part of that work happens behind the scenes as a ghostwriter for independent publishers.

I’ll be honest: I initially hated the idea. So much. It felt like cheating — like I was somehow devaluing the craft of writing and art. And then I met my clients.

They weren’t people trying to cut corners. They were avid readers with big ideas and not enough hours — people who loved stories just as much as I did, who simply needed someone to help bring their visions to life. And I realized: that’s not cheating. That’s collaboration. That’s art.

“You never really know what’s happening in someone’s life. Have patience.”

Recently, one of my clients went quiet for nearly a week. First I was confused. Then concerned. Then, if I’m being honest, a little irritated. I mentioned it to my mom, who offered those words above — and she was right.

In memory of Susan

Then came the news: one of my client’s dearest friends, Susan, had passed unexpectedly after a brief illness. With the way my client spoke of her, I knew immediately what I wanted to do. I wanted to honor Susan — to give her a life on the page that would outlast loss. So I put her in our next book.

Now, as I write and fund Forty & Wrangled, I want to bring that same magic here. If there’s someone in your life — a friend, a mother, a sister, a woman who deserves to be seen — you can dedicate a character in this story to them.

Your pledge helps cover the professional editing and advertising that will make this book as good as it can be and put it into the hands of readers who need it. Every dollar goes directly to this book’s production.

What your pledge makes possible

Romance novels don’t just happen. Behind every great read is a developmental editor catching story gaps, a copy editor catching the typos, and an ad campaign that finds the readers who’ll fall in love with it. That’s what this campaign funds.

And beyond the logistics — your pledge plants someone you love inside a story that will exist forever. Long after this campaign closes, that character will still be there on the page, in the hands of every reader who picks up this book.

Questions

When will the book be released?

Details on the release timeline will be shared with all pledgers via email — you’ll be the first to know.

How do I submit details for my character?

After your pledge is confirmed, you’ll receive an email with a simple form to share the name, personality traits, and any details you’d like woven into your character dedication.

Is my pledge refundable?

Because pledges go directly toward production costs already in motion, they are non-refundable. But your dedication lives in this book permanently — that part never goes away.

Can I pledge more than once?

Absolutely. Each pledge covers one character dedication. If you’d like to honor two people, you’re welcome to pledge twice.

Will the character really be in the book?

Yes — this is a real commitment, not a token mention. Minor character pledges receive a named, speaking role. Major character pledges are woven meaningfully into the plot.
